Notable Lectures

The University of Richmond has hosted scholars, authors, world leaders, filmmakers, humanitarians, politicians, and other notable speakers throughout its history. In the 1980s Boatwright Memorial Library’s Learning Resource Center (LRC) began recording many of these talks and lectures, along with classroom discussions, and events significant to the University’s history. Early videographer, Larry Sneeden, with the assistance of LRC students, were instrumental in filming and maintaining this collection, followed by Scott Digby, Hil Scott, and Bryan Gallagher of the Media Resource Center and Information Services. Today the archival collection, consisting of VHS, mini-cassettes, and DVDs, is housed at the Virginia Baptist Historical Society. Recordings vary in audio and visual quality, depending on the equipment, filming styles, and age of the recording. Presented here are a digitized sampling of some of the more well-known speakers who visited the campus.
